Presentation Skills Workshop

Overview

This Presentation Skills Workshop was designed to help employees become more confident and effective in delivering presentations in both virtual and in-person settings. The training combined asynchronous prework using LinkedIn Learning with an interactive 3-hour live session, allowing participants to develop practical public speaking skills through hands-on activities and feedback. The goal was to enhance clarity, engagement, and presence when presenting to various audiences, including senior leadership.

The Challenge

Employees across different teams needed to improve their ability to communicate ideas clearly, engage audiences effectively, and present with confidence. Many participants experienced stage fright, unclear messaging, or lacked structured delivery. The organization required a scalable training solution that provided both theoretical knowledge and practical application in a safe learning environment.

Solution & Design Approach

To address these needs, I designed a blended learning experience that included:

  • Prework via LinkedIn Learning – Two short courses provided foundational knowledge on delivery techniques and confidence-building strategies.
  • Interactive Live Session – A 3-hour virtual session focused on hands-on practice, peer feedback, and group discussions to reinforce learning.
  • Structured Feedback Mechanism – Participants received personalized feedback from peers and facilitators using a structured evaluation form.
  • Real-World Application – Participants practiced presenting relevant work topics, ensuring direct applicability to their roles.

Instructional Materials Developed

To support consistency and scalability, I developed a comprehensive set of learning materials, including:

  • Facilitator Guide – Detailed session plan with instructions, discussion prompts, and debrief guidelines.
  • Participant Guide – Key takeaways, practice activities, and reflection prompts to reinforce learning.
  • PowerPoint Slides – Visual aids to guide discussions and illustrate key concepts.
  • Structured Feedback Form – Standardized tool for peer and facilitator feedback.

Key Learning Activities

  • Warm-Up Exercise – Quick speaking drills to build confidence.
  • Mini-Presentations – Participants delivered short presentations with live feedback.
  • Breakout Discussions – Small group discussions on key public speaking challenges and strategies.
  • Iterative Practice – Participants applied feedback and refined their presentations in real-time

Outcomes & Impact

  • Increased Confidence – Participants reported feeling more comfortable presenting, with improved stage presence.
  • Enhanced Clarity & Engagement – Structured approach to delivery led to stronger audience engagement.
  • Sustained Improvement – Action plans encouraged participants to continue refining their skills post-training.
